A month after the release of the second generation of Apple’s connected speaker, rumors of the next HomePod 3 appear. A well-known analyst reveals that a Chinese company would be responsible for producing a 7-inch screen for this future model.
Barely released its predecessor, the HomePod 3 is already talking about it. The next model of Apple’s largest smart speaker could be released as early as the first half of 2024, according to the famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the multinational’s supply chain specialist in Asia. Quoted by news site MacRumorsThursday, March 9, he also claims that the HomePod 3 would be equipped with a 7-inch screen.
A detail that would mark a radical change in design compared to previous models in the range. A choice that ties in with previous rumors about a change in Apple’s strategy for its home automation products.
A screen as big as the competition
The HomePod 2, which was just released at the end of January 2023, took the design of its almost identical big brother: a cylindrical connected speaker with a touch zone at the top of the product that is limited to controlling sound and audio playback.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the HomePod 3 would therefore prefer a new 7-inch screen, which adapts to pCompeting products like the Google Nest Hub or the Amazon Echo Show.
