To coincide with the launch of PS VR2, the developers at Polyphony Digital have just rolled out a new free update for Gran Turismo 7. The program includes long-awaited support for Sony’s latest VR headset, the integration of the IA GT Sophy and the addition of new vehicles and tracks. On schedule.
As you may know, February 21, 2023 will be marked by the official launch of PS VR2, the new ps5 virtual reality headset. To accompany its device, Sony has planned a consistently curated line-up about forty gameswith heavyweights like Horizon Call or The Mountain of Moss 2.
Some titles previously released on PS5 can also be fully (re)discovered with the PS VR2 screwed on the head, such as Resident Evil Village or Gran Turismo 7. And it’s exactly him that we’re going to talk about in this article. On the occasion of the launch of the PS VR2, the teams of Polyphony Digital have just deployed a new free update for their car simulation.
Gran Turismo 7 goes VR on PS5
This patch 1.29, completely free, contains for starters full compatibility with the PS5 virtual reality headset. As the studio points out, GT7 takes full advantage of the device’s capabilities. In other words, players will be able to enjoy a display in 4K HDR perfectly optimized and foveal view that uses 100% eye movement tracking.
In other words, you can simply look around by turning your head, with no quality loss ever since this technology displays in high definition the parts of the screen that the player is looking at. But that’s not all, as PS VR2 owners also have access to an exclusive section: the VR showroom.
Here, players can admire the cars in their garage or dealers in ultra-high definition, all in different locations and lighting conditions. Please note that this is full game support, in other words, you can use the PS VR2 on all game modeswith the obvious exception of the 2 player split screen mode.
Regarding the other new features that this update brings, we note the integration of AI GT Sophie. This artificial intelligence, described as “superhuman and revolutionary”, was developed in collaboration with Sony AI. Players can compete against this AI, which has already defeated the best pilots in the game, in a limited-time mode called “Gran Turismo Sophy – Running Together” from February 21 to the end of March. Finally, we conclude this overview with the addition of the Grand Valley circuit and 5 extra cars under the cult Citroën DS 21 Pallas ’70.
