At the end of the year, Samsung should launch a new Galaxy S23 “Fan Edition”, its range of affordable smartphones that was not entitled to any model in 2022. Nevertheless, these would come with a nasty surprise.
Last year, Samsung made the choice not to launch a Galaxy S22 FE after the abject failure of the Galaxy S21 FE last year. After several postponements, the latter finally came out much too late to be competitive enough. Samsung is said to be preparing a new model for this year, more affordable, and we already know a little more about that.
While Samsung had decided to ditch Exynos processors on its recent Galaxy S23 and so use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips on all models, the Galaxy S23 FE could mark the return of Samsung’s internal SoCsaccording to a new report from SamMobile.
The Galaxy S23 FE comes to us with an Exynos chip
According to Sam Mobile, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be equipped with the SoC Exynos 2200 in all regions, unlike the S21 FE, which was equipped with a Snapdragon or Exynos chip depending on the market. As a reminder, this is the chip used in Europe last year in the Galaxy S22, which has been widely criticized for its performance compared to Qualcomm chips.
When the Galaxy S23 FE launches at the end of the year, the Exynos 2200 will be almost two years old, which will obviously prevent the smartphone from being among the most powerful on the market. The choice to use this chip instead of another could enable Samsung to bring down the price of its smartphoneand thus do not reproduce the same error as the previous model.
At the level of the rest of the technical sheet, SamMobile calls 50 MP main camera, compared to 12 MP before, a 4500 mAh battery compatible with 25 W fast charging, 128 GB or 256 GB storage and 6 GB or 8 GB RAM. We will probably have to wait a few more months before we know more about it, but we will of course keep you posted.
