This stylus smartphone is said to be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy S23 Ultra

Motorola is preparing a new Moto G Stylus smartphone for 2023, according to a specialized site that reveals the design and part of the technical sheet. But the 4G version may be less interesting than the previous generation.

Motorola seems to want to continue to offer a cheaper alternative to Samsung when it comes to stylus smartphones. Since 2020, the American brand has been marketing the Moto G Stylus range, integrating a stylus into the product, such as the latest Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Tuesday 21 March the information site TheTechOutlook thus reveals what appears to be the next Moto G Stylus 2023, not yet confirmed by Motorola. However, if the last product in the range was praised for its qualities, this next version could downgrade some crucial points.

Less pixels, RAM and storage

The many internal visuals revealed by TheTechOutlook let you first discover the possible external design of the smartphone: if we again find a screen with flat edges from 6.5 inches with a fairly discreet central punch and a refresh rate of 90 Hz, the definition of the panel moves from Full HD+ to HD+ (maximum 720 pixels wide). The product would be offered in two colors, blue or copper, and in two versions 4G and 5G.

The compromises continue despite the internal components that the 4G version of the smartphone is supposed to offer. This is evident from a leak spotted by TheTechOutlook via the Geekbench performance test application: the chip of the previous 2022 Moto G Stylus 4G should not change, retaining the MediaTek Helio G88 processor. ” A pretty unimpressive chip, even by the standards of cheap Android phones», regrets the online media Android Central.

Likewise, the only RAM option of the 4G smartphone would drop from 6 to 4 GB of RAM. The storage could also be split in two, from 128 GB to 64 GB. The product would also lose a camera module compared to the 2022 generation triplet, down to just two sensors.

A stylus smartphone that would still be interesting

This next Moto G Stylus 4G 2023 would keep some more advantages. Despite one less photo module, the smartphone would retain the same 50 megapixel main wide angle. Similarly, we would also find the front speakers in stereo, the fingerprint sensor on the side and the 3.5mm jack of the Moto G Stylus 4G 2022.

The battery is also said to have the same 5,000mAh capacity, although it is still rechargeable with a maximum wired speed of 10W. The phone could also be released with the latest Android 13 version via the Motorola My UX interface . Very good news for the entry-level model.

A softer price at the expense of use?

If we imagine that the choice to make the smartphone less powerful is aimed at possibly lowering the price, the choice to integrate less RAM than the previous Moto G Stylus models could reduce the overall responsiveness of the smartphone. A regrettable decision since its use is aimed at productivity thanks to the stylus.

However, it is not even certain that this Moto G Stylus 2023 will be marketed in France or Europe: despite the qualities of the latest model in the G Stylus range according toAndroid Centralsales of the smartphone remained limited in the United States.
